“…Staphylococcus haemolyticus is an infamous multidrug resistant strain commonly found in normal skin flora and may cause septicemia, peritonitis, otitis, and UTI in patients with underlying disease [58]. NGS analysis revealed Corynebacterium amycolatum, Corynebacterium tuberculostearicum, Brevibacterium luteolum, Kocuria rhizophila, Propionibacterium propionicum, and Staphylococcus lentus as opportunistic pathogens causing infections in various sites such as urinary tract, lacrimal apparatus, and peritoneum [9,10,13,15,19,27,31].…”

“…Such a difference in the prevalence of staphylococci and micrococci was previously reported in another study [ 32 ]. Moreover, S. lentus is frequently reported to be isolated from poultry sources along with other coagulase-negative staphylococci [ 20 , 33 , 34 ]. However, they are not considered prominent poultry pathogens, although they are associated with various lesions in commercial poultry flocks [ 35 ].…”

“…On the contrary, 100% sensitivity to imipenem, cefepime, and gentamycin was observed ( Table S1 ). However, S. lentus of animal origin may also pose the risk of zoonosis considering the report of peritonitis in a peritoneal dialysis patient caused by the organism of animal origin [ 33 ].…”

“…Our results significantly differ to the findings by Al-Bakri et al (2013), with 80 % isolates of MR S. epidermidis and only 2 % of MR S. haemolyticus. We also report species rarely isolated from human nasal specimens, like MR S. lentus and S. sciuri, already reported to be causative agents of endocarditis (Hedin & Widerström, 1998) and peritonitis (Rivera et al, 2014), respectively. MRS isolates proved to be generally susceptible to antibiotics other than b-lactams.…”
