Identification and Mapping of QTLs for Sulfur-Containing Amino Acids in Soybean (Glycine max L.)

Abstract: Soybean is a major source of high-quality protein for humans and animals. The content of sulfur-containing amino acids (SAA) in soybean is insufficient, which has become the main factor limiting soybean nutrition. In this study, we used the high-density genetic maps derived from Guizao 1 and Brazil 13 to evaluate the quantitative trait loci of cysteine (Cys), methionine (Met), SAA, glycinin (7S), β-conglycinin (11S), ratio of glycinin to β-conglycinin (RGC), and protein content (PC). In genetic map linkage ana… Show more

“…Soybean proteins have been reported to contain low levels of sulfuric amino acids. 49 Rutherfurd et al reported a slightly lower DIAAS (using the amino acid requirement pattern for the 0.5−3-y-old child) of 91% for amino acids in a soy protein isolate. 48 The quality of the essential amino acids in cow's milk and soy drinks is therefore considered excellent.…”

“…Also, the soy drink with a DIAAS of 100% for sulfur amino acids could still be considered an excellent protein source. Soybean proteins have been reported to contain low levels of sulfuric amino acids . “…The DNA polymorphism datasets were obtained from public data (Zhou et al, 2015; Fang et al, 2017; Liu et al, 2020; Lu et al, 2020; Torkamaneh et al, 2021; Qi et al, 2021b; Guo et al, 2022; Zhong et al, 2023) and used for genetic polymorphism analysis of GmFATA1B . For haplotype homozygosity analysis, the SNPs with minor allele frequency (maf) >5% and max missing <10% were used.…”

“…High-throughput genotyping methods, such as genotyping by sequencing (GBS), can be used to genotype a large number of accessions [102], while phenotyping methods can be used to measure the folate content of these accessions. Linkage mapping, genomewide association studies (GWAS) [103], and bulked segregant analysis-sequencing (BSA-Seq) [104] can then be used to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) [105] or quantitative trait nucleotides (QTN) [106] that are associated with folate content. RNA-Seq can be combined with identified QTL or QTN and analysed using weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) to group genes with similar expression patterns and identify candidate genes [107].…”
