Identification and Optimization of Ecological Network in Arid Inland River Basin Using MSPA and Spatial Syntax: A Case Study of Shule River Basin, NW China

Abstract: Habitat fragmentation has become an important factor in the reduction of biodiversity. Identifying and optimizing ecological network (EN) can help alleviate the negative impact of habitat fragmentation and improve regional biodiversity. TaoLai River basin is an inland river basin in Northwest China. Due to the impact of climate change and human activities, there are many ecological problems such as grassland degradation and shortage of water resources. It is urgent to identify and optimize the EN. This study c… Show more

“…Optimizing the patterns of land space development and protection, as well as enhancing regional ecological security, are important tasks in ecological civilization construction [1,2]. The 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15) was held in Yunnan in October 2021 to promote the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable utilization of its components.…”

“…Yunnan Province is in a critical phase of social and economic development, and the construction of ecological civilization can alleviate the dual pressures of economic development and ecological protection [3,4]. Constructing an ecological security pattern (ESP) is an important strategy to guarantee regional ecological security [2]. Effective connection of fragmented habitat patches by building an ecological network can improve the quality of the ecosystem and conserve biodiversity [5,6].…”
