Abstract

Identification in geotechnical engineering by a method based on the virtual work principle AbstractA new back analysis method based on the virtual work principle is proposed, with establishment of a new identification criterion, the minimization of the error on the virtual work principle. This method is simple and easy to program, efficient and robust. It allows to identify mechanical and loading parameters, and can be applied to non linear elasto-plastic problems. Application of this methode to a history case illustrate its practical feasibility in geotechnical engineering.
