Identification of causative agent for fungal infection and effect of disinfectants on hatching and survival rate of common carp (C. carpio) larvae

Abstract: Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) is one of the commercially important and commonly cultured fish. In the hatchery intensive incubation leads to microbial overgrowth in C. carpio eggs that hamper egg development, hatchability and larval survivability. The aim of this study is to find out causes of mass mortality in C. carpio eggs during peak-breeding season between March to May 2015 at Mafatema fish hatchery, Chanchra, Jessore sadar upazilla. In the present study three disinfectants with three different concentrat… Show more

“…Mollah et al (1990) conducted that the farmers have major constraints as; 72.50% of farmers reported theft was one of the main problems followed by financial problem (40%), lack of contact with fisheries officer (37.75%), lack of fish seeds (27.50%) and lack of feeds (23.75%) which hampered the production in Laxmipur district which has no similarity with the present study. The similar study on prospects and constrains were conducted by Shabuj et al (2016); Chowdhury et al (2015); ; Yeasmin et al (2015); Razeim et al (2017); Rahman et al (2015); ; ; ; Shabuj et al (2015); ; Islam et al (2016) and Hossain et al (2017).…”

“…Some variation was found between the information leaflet and packed indication. Neither the sellers nor the farmers or extension workers had clear idea about the ingredient of pharmaceutical companies nor were they using those without hesitation.Little is known about the fate of unused antibiotics or their effect on the environment (Rahman et al, 2015a;Rahman et al, 2015b;Shabuj et al, 2015 andYeasmin et al, 2015). Obviously, the potential exists for the antibiotics to affect adversely natural bacterial communities.…”

“…Poor quality seed, perceived as a major constraint to expansion of fish culture, could have deleterious effect on fish production and brood stock development. Shabuj et al (2015); Chowdhury et al (2015); Yeasmin et al (2015) and Rahman et al (2017) had worked on disease management and treatment. The present study is more or less similar with the previous work.…”
