Abstract:Riboswitches are a class of noncoding RNA structures that interact with target ligands to cause a conformational change that can then execute some regulatory purpose within the cell. Riboswitches are ubiquitous and well characterized in bacteria and prokaryotes, with additional examples also being found in fungi, plants, and yeast. To date, no purely RNA-small molecule riboswitch has been discovered inHomo Sapiens. Several analogous riboswitch-like mechanisms have been described within theH. Sapienstranslatome… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
