Image Reconstruction Under Contact Impedance Effect in Micro Electrical Impedance Tomography Sensors

Abstract: Contact impedance has an important effect on micro electrical impedance tomography (EIT) sensors compared to conventional macro sensors. In the present work, a complex contact impedance effect ratio ξ is defined to quantitatively evaluate the effect of the contact impedance on the accuracy of the reconstructed images by micro EIT. Quality of the reconstructed image under various ξ is estimated by the phantom simulation to find the optimum algorithm. The generalized vector sampled pattern matching (GVSPM) metho… Show more

“…Over other technologies, EIT has attracted the attention of many researchers at home and abroad . In 2007, the robotic applications of EIT‐based sensitive skins are first proposed by Kato et al and Nagakubo et al The electrodes are placed on the boundary of the conductive materials in response to the local resistivity changes.…”

“…The key idea of the GVSPM is that the objective function is the angle obtained from the inner product between the input vector and the solution of a system of equations. GVSPM has been widely utilized to solve the ill-posed inverse problem, and it has many applications such as the images of yeast cell sedimentary distribution in a multilayered microchannel [24], solid-air two-phase flow [25], and 3D images for Perspex [26]. The recently proposed EIT research is used to monitor patients with COVID-19 [27]- [28] and measure the postoperative lung volumes [29].…”

“…The algebraic reconstruction technique (ART) is a valid method of reconstructing the computed tomography images that can be used in the EIT [15]. Other important methods include: regularization using total variation (TV) [16], which allows image reconstruction while preserving the edge, split augmented Lagrangian shrinkage algorithm [17] and the generalized vector sampled pattern matching method (GVSPM) [18].…”
