Immunopathogenic mechanisms in psoriasis

Abstract: SUMMARYPsoriasis is a common autoimmune skin disease characterized by T cell-mediated hyperproliferation of keratinocytes. The disease has a strong but complex genetic background with a concordance of approximately 60% in monozygotic twins, and recent linkage and high resolution association studies indicate that HLA-Cw*0602 is itself a major susceptibility allele for psoriasis. Patients carrying this allele have been shown to have different clinical features and earlier age of disease onset, and patients homoz… Show more

“…Thus, three types of psoriasis optimal strategies can be distinguished: the emergency drug therapy, the drug therapy with adjustment period, and the drug therapy with rest period. These therapies are consistent both with the actual data of clinical studies ( [8,12,21]) and the results of the numerical calculations from [19].…”

“…[1][2][3][4] There is increasing evidence to suggest that newly discovered cytokines interleukin-19 (IL-19) and interleukin-20 have the role in the function of epidermis and in psoriasis. 5,6 IL-19 and -20 are members of the IL-10 family that were initially identified during a sequence database search aimed to find potential IL-10 homologs.…”
