Impact Analysis of Concrete Structural Components

Abstract: This paper presents an overview on the concrete structural components subjected to impact loading. The review includes empirical formulae, analytical models, and numerical simulations. Various empirical formulae on penetration depth, perforation, and scabbing limits as well as their ranges of application have been provided. It has been observed that the information available on the validation of these models is limited. There is wider scope to study the performance of well known empirical formulae. Penetration… Show more

“…It is known that both medium quality concrete [1], like highquality concrete [2] and special [3], consist of two systems: cement stone and aggregates. Therefore, the nature and completeness of the processes occurring in the volume of concrete at the contact boundary between ce ment stone and aggregate depend on many factors, and directly affect the durability of both concrete on cement [4] and slagalkali [5].…”

“…The most important summarizing articles on local failure calculations were published by Li [1], Kennedy [2], Teland [12], and Murthy [13]. In these papers, the most important formulae are collected, compared and the results are analysed.…”

“…Fine-grained concretes are expedient to use for manufacturing thin-walled, densely reinforced, and other structures whose fabrication implies a constraint for the size of a filler. Such concretes are a multicomponent composition system [1] and contain both a fine-grained filler and a finely-dispersed filler in its composition, as well as Portland cement [2][3][4][5] and high-performance superplasticizers acting as deflocculants. Optimal application makes it possible to control the rheological properties of concrete admixtures.…”
