Impact of antiplatelet therapy on microvascular thrombosis during ST-elevation myocardial infarction

Abstract: During an acute coronary syndrome, atherosclerotic plaque rupture triggers platelet activation and thrombus formation, which may completely occlude a coronary artery leading to ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
