Music has a remarkable ability to influence mood, improve concentration and stimulate human emotions. In the context of a learning simulation involving reading, listening, writing and eating snacks, memorable music was found to have a positive impact on adult learners' cognitive processes. From a study involving three adult learners aged between 18-29 years old, purposive non-random sampling was used to ensure inclusion criteria as adult learners without hearing loss. The research used a qualitative study with data collected through interviews and observations and thematic analysis. This research shows that memorable music has a positive impact on adult learners' cognitive processes. The integration of music in learning improved participants' attention, memory and thinking. Understanding the complex interactions between music and cognitive processes provides valuable insights for psychological and biological understanding, contributing to effective applications in rehabilitation, treatment and education.

Music is an important element in almost all societies of the world. Music is played almost everywhere that there is human endeavour. People opt to listen to music that resonates with them and appeal to their inner senses. Each individual has their own unique taste for music and preference for certain kind of music. Music is something that everyone enjoys listening to as it refreshes the soul and keeps the human mind active. It also helps to reflect the kind of personality that an individual has formed, is forming, or is likely to form due to the repeated exposures to certain music genres. This paper therefore intends to establish connections among music, the human soul, and the formation of human personalities through the influence of music. It is hoped that an understanding of this can help to identify the strength of music on the human personality and to be consciously aware of the kind of music individuals intentionally and unintentionally get exposed to. The paper also explores music preferences from the context of Nigerian music listeners and its implications on the context of their social interactions and personality development.

Introduction. In general, during the theoretical content taught in different educational stages, students are seated for several hours and expository methods are used by the teacher. Under these conditions, emotions such as anxiety, boredom and loss of attention may appear. To improve this situation, several studies have shown that active breaks (AB) in class are a good option. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate the effect of AB with dance in the classroom on the emotional state and attention level of university students. Material and methods. A crossover design was employed where the type of rest (active vs. passive) was compared in two class groups for a total of 68 students (age 20.7 ± 1.7 years, 50% female). The variables studied were the level of attention and emotional state, assessed using the d2 test and the mood rating scale (EVEA). A multilevel linear model was applied and Cohen’s d was calculated for the statistical analysis. Results. Although there was an improvement in the level of attention with the implementation of AB with dance (p > 0.05, |d| = 0.15-0.28), this was not significant. In the emotional state, a decrease in the level of sadness was found (p > 0.05; d = - 0.16) without statistical significance. Conclusions. The application of AB with dance in the classroom provides a way to increase students’ physical activity levels without negatively affecting the level of attention. Further studies with theoretical classes of longer duration and in a longer intervention period could provide new data on the benefits of AB with dance.
