Impact of different layers on performance of OLED

Abstract: This paper explores how different layers in an organic light emitting diode (OLED) impacts its performance. Here, different layers of OLED similar to hole/electron injection layer, transport layer, and block layers are analyzed. Four experimental devices are taken into consideration and their results are compared to one over another to analyze the impact of every layer. Inside depth analysis is also performed on the device to inspect what really is happening Innermost of the OLED. It is noticed that hole and e… Show more

“…As a result, holes (being the faster moving charge carrier) crossed the emission layer (EML) to reach the cathode and did not take part in recombination. 4 HBL was proposed as solution to this problem. 10 The HBL was placed next to the EML, thereby restricting the movement of holes.…”

“…For further enhancing the device performance, a double HBL architecture was utilized that included two HBLs: BAlq and BPhen (Device E). 4,10 The complete structure of Device E is shown in Figure 1. Table 1 enlists the dimensions of Device E along with Device D (previous device dimensions can be inferred from Device D).…”

“…Organic light emitting diodes have become an established technology in the display market because they achieve very high luminous efficiency, low‐power consumption, and long lifetime thanks to a complex multilayer architecture . Unlike thermal evaporation, solution processes are lowering production costs due to their high material usage efficiency and easy scalability at different sizes .…”

“…The dimension of these layers is enlisted in Table 1. Each layer in the architecture serves a specific purpose, for example, The multilayered OLED is analysed with the help of Silvaco ATLAS tool [9,18], and its performance parameters are extracted and validated with the fabricated experimental results [15]. After that, internal analysis of multilayered OLED is carried out for indepth understanding of the internal physics of the device.…”
