Impact of morphological parameters on water quality variables of a regulated lowland river

Abstract: An efficient method to investigate which morphological changes have greatest impact on the water quality is to carry out a computer modelling exercise. In this study, three models, a hydrodynamic (DYNHYD), a eutrophication model (EUTRO), and a sediment and micro-pollutant transport model (TOXI), were coupled together in the High Level Architecture (HLA) platform. DYNHYD dynamically simulates the propagation of a wave through a river reach one-dimensionally by solving the full dynamic wave equation. Important p… Show more

“…The uncertainty in water quality variable is described here using the coefficient of variation defined as the ratio of the standard deviation to the mean [48]. In Figure 3, a comparison is made between the water quality variables distributions at two locations (1) in uSSR at Leader and (2) lSSR at Clarkboro Ferry in winter and summer.…”

“…This seasonality plays an important role in the quantitative and qualitative assessment of physicochemical parameters and aquatic organisms [ 1 ]. Seasonality also has an essential role in altering river flow in tropical rivers, thus restructuring channel morphology, which can impact water quality [ 2 , 3 ]. In addition, changes in channel morphology can affect the interaction of the benthic community.…”
