“…A comparison study of two Behavioral Surveillance Surveys (BSS) that were conducted in April 2006 and February 2007 by the MAC indicated that the provision of free needles and syringes through the NSEP had not increased the number of PWID or the frequency of drug injection between PWID (Sarnon et al, 2011). More recent studies from Wickersham et al (2016); Singh et al (2016) also found that high utilization of NSEP was related to low HIV transmission between PWID in Malaysia. After 16 years of its implementation, Singh et al (2016) and Zakaria et al (2016) reported that police officers in Malaysia are more prepared and ready to accept this program.
