Implementation of demand system restrictions and accuracy of QUAIDS model estimator on animal food demand in Indonesia

Abstract: Demonstration on restrictions and accuracy of an estimator is pivotal since the incomplete restrictions will make the estimator inaccurate that they cannot be used for the need of decision making. In this study, the demand system’s three primary requirements-adding up, homogeneity, and symmetry ‒ are examined. This current research was intended to demonstrate restrictions and accuracy of Quadratic Almost Ideal Demand System (QUAIDS) model estimator. The source of the data was referred to the results of Nationa… Show more

“…This means that demand for food commodities is significantly influenced by price changes. Households are more responsive to changes in commodity own prices than changes in prices of other commodities (cross-price) [21]. Different from rice, root and tuber crops also bread are inelastic, changes in price are not significant to changes in demand for the own commodities.…”

“…Preferences influence the demand for animal-based foods in Indonesia and react to animal food prices and income changes. Other researchers, including Nikmatul, Ratya, Nuhfil, and Wahib (2020) and Iriany, Sui, Anindita, Khoiriyah, and Sa'diyah (2022), have also studied animal protein in Indonesia and discovered that animal-based food is elastic in Indonesia.…”
