Abstract:A new X-ray imaging technique, diffraction-enhanced imaging (DEI), has been developed at synchrotron radiation sources that can independently visualize the refraction and absorption of an object. The images are essentially scatter-free, allowing enhanced contrast of objects that develop small-angle scattering. The combination of these properties has resulted in images of mammography phantoms and human breast tissues that have dramatically improved contrast compared with standard imaging techniques. It is poten… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
