Implication of LDPC Technique in Non-ideal Multiuser Communication System

Abstract: The present paper analyzes the effect of LDPC coding on the performances of a CDMA DS-SS multiuser system. Two types of detectors are analyzed, namely the conventional matched filter and the MMSE ones, in the ideal case-when the spreading codes are perfectly orthogonal and in a non-ideal one-when the users are more or less intercorrelated. Regarding the communication channel, several cases have been taken into consideration, from pure AWGN or Gaussian Mixture Noise to Rayleigh and Rice fading with different pa… Show more

“…In the paper, Marcu and Halunga [4] analyzed a multi-user CDMA system behavior using a minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector. In the presence of LDPC/Turbo coding and decoding techniques, the LDPC-Code DS-CDMA system performance is investigated when an optimal multi-user detector is used in the recovery of the information data, and the performance is improved with a BER = 10 -3 for SNR = 4 dB in an AWGN channel.…”

“…It has been assumed that the structure of the parity-check matrix H has no girth of 4. Also, we have used a regular LDPC with dimensions of (4,204) in H so that the number of ones per column is 4, and the number of ones per row is 204. These codes are characterized by a high code rate of 50/51 [33].…”

“…In fact, the bandwidth requirement has resulted in a search for the protocol that may be utilized to increase bandwidth utilization. Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is a method for accommodating multiple users with various rate and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements in the same bandwidth and at the same time in the third and fourth generations of mobile communication systems [4]. Users can share the channel with the CDMA system through the use of signal properties or codes.…”

“…The increasing demand for wireless communication services with the effect of developing technology has made it necessary to search for techniques that will increase the capabilities of existing digital communication systems [1]. Digital data transmission provides higher noise immunity and greater flexibility in terms of bandwidth-power dilemma than analogue transmission.…”
