Improved ejection fraction and flow velocity estimates with use of view sharing and uniform repetition time excitation with fast cardiac techniques.

Abstract: View sharing and uniform TR RF excitation improve the accuracy of end-systolic and end-diastolic ventricular volume measurements by improving the effective temporal resolution.

“…The acquisition of additional central k-space lines between adjacent peripheral k-space data kϩ and k- (Fig. 2), however, reduces temporal blurring compared to the original simple view sharing approach (19). Phase sharing is not possible for the reconstruction of the first cine frame of the cardiac cycle (Fig.…”

“…Temporal resolution of sequences 2 and 3 (protocols B and C) is improved by a modified view sharing technique called shared phases (19,20). Eight central kspace lines, for example, are measured in sequence protocol C for each cardiac phase to be reconstructed by acquiring additional central k-space views between adjacent peripheral k-space data kϩ and k-whereas peripheral k-space data from adjacent temporal phases are combined to generate intermediate data sets (20; Fig.…”

“…[3]) and the associated image reconstruction (Eq. [5]) by adding an index (0 Յ Յ T -1): data acquired at time t are F ជ , and the reconstructed image at this time point is f ជ . The entire reconstruction problem for all T time samples may be written as a single matrix inversion by concatenating all image vectors.…”

“…One well known method for increasing the number of temporal frames in cine CMRI is view sharing (5). This temporal interpolation method, which is commercially available, reconstructs intermediate frames by combining the latter-acquired half of the data for a preceding frame with the earlier half of the data for the following frame.…”
