Abstract:Microbial maximum growth rates vary widely across species and are key parameters for ecosystem modeling. Measuring these rates is challenging, but genomic features like codon usage statistics provide useful signals for predicting growth rates for as-yet uncultivated organisms,s though current predictors often show high variance. To improve accuracy, we integrate phylogenetic signals, leveraging the evolutionary relationships among species to refine trait predictions. We present Phydon, which combines codon sta… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
