Improvement of Zigbee Routing Protocol

The IPv6 over Low power Wireless Personal Area Networks (6LoWPANs) have turned out to be one of the most emerging field in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) which can be integrated with Internet technology. 6LoWPAN network consists of heterogeneous wireless sensors which have high resource-constraints such as bandwidth, processing power, memory, energy, etc. The resource-constraints put forth many challenges to apply the available standard security protocols such as Transport Layer Security (TLS), Internet Protocol Security (IPSec), Internet Key Exchange version 2 (IKEv2), etc., for the interconnection of Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks (HWSNs) with Internet. To overcome these situations, the researchers aimed to reinforce and adapt the end-to-end security between Internet and the IP enabled sensor networks. The above mentioned security protocols are not modified at the Internet end point in HWSNs. Hence we are proposing a novel Cooperative Key Exchange System (CKES) by using the concept of Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT). We have used NS2 simulator to implement the proposed concept and also compared with IKEv2. All Rights Reserved

The ZigBee network is widely studied and deployed recently because its low cost and simplicity features. However, the power consumption issue needs a further improvement since the application requirements are not fully satisfied. The emerging 5G communication technology is characterized by the smarter devices and the native support for the M2M communication. On that basis, the 5G terminals are capable of joining the existing ZigBee networks and have the potential to improve the data transmission. In this paper, we investigate the performance of the ZigBee networks in the 5G environment for different scenarios. Then a nearest access routing (NAR) algorithm based on the physical depth is proposed for different communication types. To reduce the loads in ZigBee networks, the data flow in the neighborhood of 5G terminals is gathered and transmitted via the IP networks. The simulation results showed that NAR effectively share the communication in ZigBee networks. It leads to better performances with higher packet delivery ratio, less hop counts from ZigBee devices, lower latency, fewer packets sent by ZigBee nodes and zero routing overheads.

Abstract-For decades, the structure of existing power grids has not changed. It is an old structure that depends heavily on fossil fuel as an energy source, and in the future, this is likely to be critical in the field of energy.To solve these problems and to make optimal use of energy resources, a new concept is proposed, called Smart Grid. Smart Grid is an electric power distribution automation system, which can provide a two-way flow of electricity and information between power plants and consumers.The Smart Grid communications infrastructure consists of different network components, such as Home Area Network (HAN), Neighborhood Area Network (NAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN). Achieving the required level of reliability in the transmission of information to all sections, including the HAN, is one of the main objectives in the design and implementation of Smart Grid. This study offers a routing protocol by considering the parameters and constraints of HAN, which, by improving AODV routing protocol, achieves the level of required reliability for data transmission in this network. These improvements include: making table-driven AODV routing protocol, extending the routing protocol to compute multiple paths in a route discovery, simplification and providing the effect of HAN parameters. The results of the NS2 simulation indicate that applying this improved routing protocol in the HAN, satisfies the required level of reliability of the network, which is over 98%.
