Improving separation efficiency of galena flotation using the Aerated Jet Flotation Cell

Abstract: The low separation efficiency of traditional mechanical flotation cells for galena flotation primarily was caused by the low collision probability between bubbles and fine particles and high detachment probability of coarse particles. A flotation device named Aerated Jet Flotation Cell (AJFC) was adopted to improve the separation efficiency of galena flotation. Reducing bubble size and optimizing turbulence distribution were respectively confirmed as effective ways to improve fine galena-bubble collision effic… Show more

“…In order to construct a flat coal molecular layer surface to simulate the spreading of nonpolar oil drops, the graphite compression method was used for simulation. There has been a large body of literature that has investigated the wettability of coal surfaces using the graphite compression method [27, 42], illustrating the applicability of this method. The specific simulation process is shown in Figure 2.…”

“…Also, compared to conventional systems, the oxygen exchange mechanism using a sputtering jet of water is a better way to add oxygen to a pool of water . Additional uses include cell bioreactor, oxygenation, and mineral-processing flotation cells. In another industrial process that involves casting polymers and glass, enhancing the interaction between gas and liquid aeration is crucial for the effective creation of goods . Based on how much electricity is used, an aeration system’s efficiency is measured by how well it can move oxygen into liquid water.…”

“…In recent years, AFM has been widely applied to study surface properties in many fields and could directly characterize and measure the nanoscale forces between particles [31,32]. For example, The attractive force between serpentine and ascharite could turn repulsive by adsorption of Ca 2+ , Mg 2+, or Cu 2+ on particles' surfaces, resulting in well dispersive flotation environment [33]. Cations could also change the repulsive force between kaolinite/montmorillonite and fine coal to be attractive [34].…”
