Abstract:We describe a novel dual cannulation method for investigating radiolabeled nutrient uptake from a unique organ, the spiral valve. Furthermore, we identify functional differences in nutrient transport along the length of the spiral valve which consists of a homogenous gross morphology. Finally, this method reveals a useful way in which to manipulate the arterial supply to better understand postprandial physiology as it varies with metabolites and endocrine factors.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
