“…After the long term effects of the 50 d exposure, the MCLR contents in the spleen of MCLR treatments (1 or 10 μg/kg) were 18.7 and 27.8 ng/g DW, respectively, the levels of which are similar to the levels found in tissue samples from aquatic animals (33.1-1570 ng/g DW) and serum samples of humans (0.39 ng/mL) [28][29][30]. Thus, our results could be applied to species living with environmental exposure of MCLR.…”

“…Therefore, kidney was the important excretory organ for MCLR-Cys and MCRR-Cys. In a field study, Chen et al (2007) reported that MCLR-Cys was qualitatively detected in the kidney of bighead carp collected from Lake Taihu in most months. Zhang et al (2009) also showed that MCLR-Cys content in the kidney of silver carp collected from Lake Taihu were relatively high, varying from 1.85 to 7.93 g g −1 DW with an average of 4.01 g g −1 DW, whereas no MCLR-GSH was detected in the kidney during the half-year study.…”

“…Seston onto the glass-fiber filter and the filtrate were used to detect intracellular and extracellular toxins, respectively. And then analyzed quantitatively by electrospray ionization (ESI) liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS) according to the method described by Chen et al (2007). Table 1 summarizes some characteristics of above parameters in Gonghu Bay, Lake Taihu during the study period.…”
