In Vitro Cytotoxicity Effect on McF-7 Cell Line of Co-Encapsulated Artesunate and Curcumin Liposome

Abstract: Objective: Cancer drug delivery has focused using novel carrier system due to their high drug loading and release controlled property and minimum side effect. Artesunate (ART) and curcumin (CUR) are proved natural herbal lead chemotherapeutics used as Chinese and Indian food. But due to its low absorption and the poor bioavailability limits its clinical efficacy. The object of the present work was to investigate the cytotoxic vs apoptotic effect of these herbal lead molecules in the co-encapsulated liposome fo… Show more

“…However, this can cause degradation of the nanoformulations. [60] For scaling up to pharmaceutical grade, good manufacturing practices at large enough scale and yet economical becomes a big issue to overcome. [59] Another limitation of liposome and micelle based nanoformulation is the tedious process of identifying right targeting ligand and tethering to the nanocarrier.…”

“…[69][70][71][72] Uniform nanoscale liposomes are the major product of vesicle extrusion and they currently play a pivotal role in drug delivery applications. [73][74][75][76] A liposome is a spherical synthetic lipid vesicle composed of a single lipid bilayer with a nanoscale diameter ranging from 60 nm to a few micrometers. Due to their unique hollow structure, liposomes have been widely used as a drug delivery system to protect and deliver therapeutic agents including chemodrugs, [77,78] small molecule inhibitors, [79,80] siRNAs, [81,82] DNAs, [83,84] proteins/peptides, [85,86] and recently developed CRISPR-Cas gene editing systems.…”

“…Various biomolecules such as curcumin elicited HSP70 activity and provided protection against neuronal dysfunction, various cancers, and in vascular diseases [16][17][18]. Bimoclomol is a hydroxylamine derivative which is nontoxic and elicited its protective effect through HSP induction; including HSP70 [19].…”
