As a strategy to determine if P-cadherin plays a causal role in aggressive tumor cell behavior, we generated a transgenic mouse model with forced expression of P-cadherin in the mammary epithelium, under control of the MMTV promoter [Radice et al, 2003]. These mice did not develop mammary tumors spontaneously, indicating that P-cadherin mis-expression by mammary epithelial cells does not induce tumors.…”
