Increasing the transparency of systematic reviews: presenting a generalized registration form

Olmo R. van den Akker,
Gjalt-Jorn Ygram Peters,
Caitlin J. Bakker
et al.

Abstract: This paper presents a generalized registration form for systematic reviews that can be used when currently available forms are not adequate. The form is designed to be applicable across disciplines (i.e., psychology, economics, law, physics, or any other field) and across review types (i.e., scoping review, review of qualitative studies, meta-analysis, or any other type of review). That means that the reviewed records may include research reports as well as archive documents, case law, books, poems, etc. Items… Show more

“…Table 2 shows 48 of the 94 laboratory studies (51%) that investigated the role of HIFs using different genetic methods in animal species and glioblastoma models. All the studies investigated HIF1α, while four studies also investigated the role of HIF2α in addition to HIF1α [ 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 ]. Among the included studies, deletion, overexpression, and transduction each accounted for 2.08% of the total (N = 1).…”

“…For researchers in particular, Open Science practices play a vital role throughout the entire research project lifecycle, spanning design, conduct, analysis, reporting, and publishing. In the design phase, preregistration enables researchers to meticulously plan their studies by registering hypotheses, study designs, and analysis plans either before the commencement of data collection or analysis (Bosnjak et al, 2022 ; Sarafoglou et al, 2022 ; Van den Akker et al, 2023 ; Van't Veer & Giner-Sorolla, 2016 ). During conduct, analysis, and reporting phases, researchers can adhere to reporting checklists (e.g.…”
