“…In the Brazilian context, the sustainability indicators theme has gained scientific attention. The literature presents studies on sustainability indicators for higher education (Silva & Almeida, 2019); sustainability indicators matrix in the municipalities of Belém and Ananindeua, Pará and study with emphasis on reverse logistics (Gonçalves, Tavares, Beltrão, Ferreira, & Filho, 2019); sustainability indicators in Santa Catarina municipalities (Réus & Andion, 2018); social sustainability index of Brazilian municipalities (Almeida, Curi, Vieira, & Medeiros, 2018); sustainability indicators in tourism (Sanchesa, Sauer, Binottoc, & Espejo, 2018); and sustainability indicators in business incubators (Fernandes, Mazzola, Esteves, & Oliveira Jr., 2016). Therefore, it is possible to observe in the national context that the theoretical framework does not bring many bibliographical references regarding the application and dissemination of knowledge focused to sustainable tools in the public management of small municipalities, which creates a space for research that can be developed in this context, with a view to the evolution of this concept in the Brazilian public authorities.…”
