Indoor massive multiple-input multiple-output channel characterization and performance evaluation

Abstract: We present a measurement campaign to characterize an indoor massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel system, using a 64-element virtual linear array, a 64-element virtual planar array, and a 128-element virtual planar array. The array topologies are generated using a 3D mechanical turntable. The measurements are conducted at 2, 4, 6, 11, 15, and 22 GHz, with a large bandwidth of 200 MHz. Both line-of-sight (LOS) and non-LOS (NLOS) propagation scenarios are considered. The typical channel parameter… Show more

“…Aalborg University compared the power-angulardelay profile (PADP) and validated with ray tracing at 3, 15, and 29 GHz [5], [6]. They also proposed a new ultrawideband (UWB) channel sounding system and compared the PADP and impulse responses (IRs) at 19,26,29, and 39 GHz [7]. In [8], researchers from Ericsson compared the PADP using a cubic array at the 5.8, 14.8, and 58.7 GHz bands [8].…”

“…In the second group, Li et al (2017) presented an indoor measurement campaign for massive MIMO radio channels using a high-performance frequency domain channel sounder with different virtual largescale arrays. The measurement system uses different array topologies including a 64-element linear array, a 64-element planar array, and a 128-element planar array.…”
