Indoor wireless optical communication systems: effect of ambient noise

Abstract: Abstract. Many techniques using polarizers, differential detectors, and electrical filters are used to overcome the penalty induced by artificial light interference and are analyzed. These techniques are used to reduce noise current or remove it by using an electrical filter or a polarizer or both of them together. We are going to display the effect of noise voltage, flicker voltage of a tungsten lamp, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the systems by changing each parameter to reach the best solution for redu… Show more

“…In recent years, they have been ranked among the most important platforms used in ODP applications and for making them cost-effective [1]. PhCs, in this type of application, are compared to famous photonic-based technologies, such as visible light communications (VLC) [2][3][4][5][6][7][8], semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) [9], fiber Bragg grating (FBG) [10][11][12], Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) [13,14], free-space optical communication (FSO) [15,16], and modulators used in optical networks [17]. Characteristics obtained from the photonic domain, including immunity to electromagnetic interference, safety in highly combustible environment, fast response speed, and long-range monitoring, are features that make PhC promising [18,19].…”
