Induction and Growth Kinetics Callus of Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)

Abstract: Plant callus extracts are potential to be developed as ingredient in skincare products. Tomato callus is supposed to contain protein-derivatives and or other components such as secondary metabolites that play a role in skin regeneration. Therefore the production of calli is important to be studied for callus sustainable supply. This research aims to obtain optimum medium for callus induction and to analyze tomato callus development anatomically. In vitro culture response was assessed in tomato plant (Solanum l… Show more

“…Cell division and cell expansion may reduce during the deceleration phase (Rawat et al, 2020). According to Setiaji et al (2020), during deceleration, the rate of cellular division is reduced due to the depletion of nutrients, and the saturation of cells with phenol-containing metabolites may cause the death of cells. However, no signs of senescence such as callus browning were observed at the end of the incubation period of the present study.…”

“…A further prospect is the extraction of materials with whole plants that need to be replaced with plant materials from in vitro cultures, such as callus cultures and cell suspensions. In vitro culture can provide optimal conditions for synthesizing these compounds with additional precursors, and the amount of the yield can be standardized (Setiaji et al 2020).…”
