We have grown a new Pr-based compound PrRu 2 In 2 Zn 18 and have studied its structural and magnetic properties by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and magnetization measurements, respectively. The single-crystal X-ray analysis showed that this compound is a quaternary derivative of the cubic CeCr 2 Al 20-type. Magnetic susceptibility obeys the Curie-Weiss law above 50 K. The effective magnetic moment, eff = 3.58 B /Pr, agrees with the value expected for a free Pr 3+ ion. Below 10 K, Van-Vleck paramagnetic behavior is observed, indicating that the crystalline electronic field ground state of the Pr 3+ ion is nonmagnetic.
