Influence of Cutting Attachment on Noise Level Emitted by Brush Cutter during Tending of Young Forests

Abstract: A brush cutter is the most frequently used equipment for tending young forests. When cutting unwanted vegetation, the operator is exposed to various harmful factors, such as: a forced body position, noise, vibrations and exhaust emissions. In this study, the impact of cutting attachment type on the noise level during tending of young pine stands was examined. The attachments used during the tests included: a wire head and cutting blades with 2, 3 and 24 cutting teeth. The research was carried out on 2–3 year o… Show more

“…After analyzing the noise spectrum of the high-speed rotation of the scribing knife with different groove angles at varying rotating speeds, the noise was determined to reach the minimum value when the groove angle was approximately 91°, 95°, and 105°. Naskrent [ 95 ] studied the effect of a number of teeth in the blade of a brush cutter on the noise level. The study found that the noise level decreases as the number of teeth increases.…”

“…Forwarder trailer units can be combined with agricultural tractors [6]. The advantage of such a combination is that the tractor can also be used for other purposes, e.g., at a time when the amount of harvested wood decreases, so the cost of purchasing the trailer will thus be recouped more quickly [7]. A forwarder and a tractor with a timber trailer normally skid wood harvested by a harvester, but also wood harvested by a chainsaw.…”
