“…Both genera are known as denitrifiers, with the ability to store organic substrates as PHA, and producers of amyloid adhesins in the extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) . Another genus, Ferruginibacter , which is involved in the biosynthesis and exportation of EPS also increased during P‐II. As already mentioned, PAO genera and more specifically Candidatus Accumulibacter were found to be more abundant in the first half of P‐II, while GAO genera and more specifically Candidatus Competibacter dominated the second half of P‐II.…”

“…Steroidobacter , Thermomonas, and Rhodobacter were typical anoxic denitrifying bacteria (Fahrbach et al, ; Idi, Ibrahim, Mohamad, & Majid, ). Ferruginibacter normally functioned in the anoxic/oxic/membrane reactor (AO/MR), and the extracellular polymers (EPS) could release carbon sources to promote the denitrification (Han, Zhou, Mei, Ma, & Xie, ). The proper conditions with abundant carbon source and low oxygen in the final part of TB could promote microbial anoxic denitrification.…”

“…They found the effectiveness was the balance of the direct effect of foulant removal and indirect effect of modification of the mixed liquor. Han, Zhou, Zhou, Mei, Ma, and Xie (2018) investigated the effects of waste activated sludge (WAS) fermentation liquid on anoxic/oxic-MBR. While WAS fermentation liquid improved denitrification, severe membrane fouling occurred.…”
