Influence Parameters on the Essential Work of Fracture of 5754-H111 Aluminum Alloy Plate: Comparative Study

Abstract: Aluminum alloy 5754 is a medium strength alloy with excellent corrosion resistance especially to seawater and industrially polluted atmospheres. Aluminum alloy 5754-H111 shows good cold formability, high fatigue strength and fair machinability. The present work aims to develop the test specimen to obtain the Essential Work of Fracture EWF which based on the Ligament yielding observed to occur at the peak of the load-displacement curve. It Follow this, necking and tearing occur in the softening region. The plas… Show more

“…These structures, particularly those made of aluminium alloys, become increasingly susceptible to fatigue and failure under the combined influence of mechanical loads [2]. Aluminium alloys are essential in engineering because they provide a balance of strength and light weight [3][4][5][6]. Further technological advances enhanced the aluminium alloy, allowing it to be used in the aerospace industry [7].…”

“…Aluminium has found extensive application in marine environments [3,4] due to its unique properties, including its light weight, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength. However, in coastal conditions, where there are temperature and humidity variations [5], factors such as corrosion [6], fatigue loading [7], fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) and fracture toughness [8][9][10][11] can affect its performance.…”
