The result of photosynthetic activity by plants is mass gain. Essential mineral elements are immobilized in the plant mass, the main element being carbon. In photosynthesis, this element is linked to one another forming carbon chains and, to link one carbon to another, the plant uses solar energy, making the mass rich in energy. Therefore, quantifying plant mass is interesting to estimate the efficiency of plants in accumulating mass and energy. Mass quantification is done using the growth analysis technique. The objective of this work was to develop a computer program to assist in the plant growth analysis. It consisted of adjusting mathematical equations to data on leaf area, total and leaf dry mass. Once the best equations were found, the instantaneous growth indicators, CGR, RGR, NAR, SLA, LAR, LAD and carbon flux (pn) were estimated from them. The adjusted equations were linear, logistic, quadratic, cubic, quadratic exponential and cubic exponential. The equations that best fit to the data were the quadratic exponential and cubic exponential. The program was developed in the C* language. For comparison purposes, the average physiological indicators of growth were estimated using the classic equations found in the literature.

This study estimated the mean values of morpho-agronomic traits of Phaseolus lunatus L. through a systematic review and meta-analysis. Seven studies were selected through the systematic review, which encompassed a total of 104 genotypes. The selected traits were pod length and width, number of seeds per pod, grain yield, and 100-seed weight. In the exploratory analysis, normality, descriptive parameters, box-plot graph, and quantile-quantile plot of the data were evaluated. In the meta-analysis, the Q test and I² statistic were applied, and then, the combined effect model and fixed effect model were tested, using the Genes and R software. The data showed a normal distribution, and the box-plot graph indicated the need to remove some outliers. The quantile-quantile plot showed no publication bias. Q values were high for most traits, indicating that the studies were not homogeneous, and the random effects model was adopted. The combined estimates of pod length, width, number of seeds, grain yield, and 100-seed weight were 69.80mm, 16.29mm, 2.69, 395.97kg/ha, and 48.61g, respectively. The values obtained were precise, due to their similarity with the mean values, indicating that the methodology is adequate for generating mean values of agronomic interest.

A temática deste artigo está relacionada à análise da opinião de produtores de leite sobre a expansão da atividade como estratégia de desenvolvimento regional. Seu objetivo foi avaliar a percepção dos pequenos produtores de leite sobre a viabilidade social e econômica da expansão da atividade leiteira em pequenas e médias propriedades na região do Vale do Paranhana/RS como alternativa de desenvolvimento regional. Com relação à metodologia empregada, caracteriza-se como um estudo exploratório baseado em um estudo de caso múltiplo, onde empregou-se o método quantitativo. Primeiramente, a pesquisa amparou-se em revisão bibliográfica, buscando dar sustentação ao tema, e, posteriormente, por uma pesquisa documental com o intuito de obter dados e informações referentes às pequenas propriedades rurais e produtores de leite situados no Vale do Paranhana. A segunda parte da pesquisa consistiu na aplicação de questionários diretamente com os pequenos produtores de leite da região, visitando-se distintas propriedades rurais. Foram realizadas 20 visitas e utilizadas seleções não probabilísticas por acessibilidade. Para análise das respostas obtidas através dos questionários, recorreu-se à estatística descritiva, objetivando organizar e facilitar a compreensão dos dados coletados. Conclui-se que a produção leiteira na região do Vale do Paranhana poderá expandir-se, mas sugere-se que ocorra através da constituição de cooperativas regionais ou pequenas agroindústrias voltadas à captação da produção regional e seu posterior processamento. Poderá encontrar respaldo ainda na diferenciação do produto, apostando na produção orgânica do leite.
