Information gap decision theory for voltage stability constrained OPF considering the uncertainty of multiple wind farms

Abstract: This study deals with the voltage stability constrained optimal power flow (VSC-OPF) problem considering the wind power generation uncertainty. The main feature of the proposed model is to handle the uncertainty of multiple wind farms (WFs) in a way that for a given worsening of total cost, maximum tolerable uncertainty of wind power generation is achieved for all WFs. This maximum uncertainty is determined in a way that a required loading margin (LM), is preserved. It is worth noting that LM is the most impor… Show more

“…This constraint ensures that the dispatched generators provide the spinning reserve requirements for the microgrid as follows: System under study [20] wind no no yes no no no transmission [25] wind no no yes no no no transmission [26] wind no no yes no no no transmission [27] wind no no yes no no no transmission [28] wind no yes yes no no no transmission [30] wind The spinning reserve requirement for PV system can be formulated by penetration level of PV system. In this model, since PV generation does not have a significant impact on system stability in low PV penetration levels, the spinning reserve requirements in low PV penetration scenarios are similar to the cases without PV system [32].…”

“…Please note that decision makers will be faced with two different strategies, including risk-averse strategy and risk seeker strategy, if the uncertain parameter is different from its expected value. The risk-averse strategy is used in this paper to perform the analysis [26]. In this situation, the uncertainty of the uncertain parameter has a negative effect on the objective function since the uncertainty parameter increases the amount of objective function compared with the base case.…”

“…In [5], the authors studied the impact of variable-speed wind power generation in long-term VS while operating synchronous generators with dynamic reactive power capabilities. In [6], a VS-constrained optimal power flow was presented to determine the required loading margin. In [7], static and dynamic reactive power compensation are used to study the integration with generators, considering a 10% step disturbance in the dynamic load model.…”
