Initial Chemotherapy for Purulent Meningitis in Children

Abstract: The combination of ampicillin with either gentamicin or chloramphenicol, which is currently the initial chemotherapy for purulent meningitis, has lost its effectiveness in recent years because of an increase in the incidence of ampicillin-resistant strains.
