Abstract:In Angiosperms, the reduction of protochlorophyllide (Pchlide) to chlorophyllide (Chlide), a penultimate reaction of chlorophyll biosynthesis, is catalyzed by a photoenzyme Pchlide oxidoreductase (POR) and completely inhibited in darkness. This reaction plays also a regulatory role in plant morphogenesis.
