Em décadas passadas, as incidên-cias relatadas de 26,5% de lesões de vísceras ocas em pacientes adultos com trauma abdominal fechado 9 e de 37% de lesões intra-abdominais associadas em pacientes com lesões esplênicas 10 sugeriam elevado risco de ocorrên-cia de lesões despercebidas em pacientes que fossem submetidos a TNO.
