INMTD: Intent-based Moving Target Defense Framework using Software Defined Networks

Abstract: Intent-Based Networking (IBN) is an emerging networking paradigm while Moving Target Defense (MTD) is an active security technique. In this paper, the Intent-based Moving Target Defense (INMTD) framework using Software Defined Networks is proposed. INMTD is the first effort in exploiting IBN for the design of an efficient Moving Target Defense (MTD) framework. INMTD uses the concept of shadow servers in order to counter the first stage of cyber-attacks, i.e. reconnaissance attacks targeted against servers runn… Show more

“…To this end, the current research examines the proposed [1] and implemented [2] model of hybrid integrated automation tools based on DevOps. Study is also conducted from different perspectives of model building [13,15] to the application of cloud computing [15] or the adoption of recent approaches for development industries. Based on the existing literature and our tool model, this paper performs an evaluation of different types of parameters or software metrics for quality measurement.…”

“…Hyder and Ismail proposed an Intent-based Moving Target Defense (INMTD) framework in which Software Defined Networks (SDNs) are utilized [5]. In their framework, the concept of shadow servers is used to counter the reconnaissance stage of cyber-attacks where the servers running in SDN networks are the prime target.…”
