Innovative spoke design for non-pneumatic tyres with enhanced load-bearing capacity and customizability for all vehicles

Abstract

For more than a century, tires have been an essential part of automobiles, offering support and 
traction. With technological advancements, a new type of tire known as the airless tire or non-pneumatic tire is. 
making a significant impact on the market. Despite its innovation, this novel tire lacks experience, experiences 
heightened complexity and faces challenges in vehicle adaptability and variable load capacity. The aim of this 
research paper is to offer a new spokes design that can outperform the conventional honeycomb and diamond
spokes tires, in terms of load bearing capacity. While being less complex and customizable for various vehicles 
and load capacities. This research is structured into two phases. During phase 1 the spokes design selection is 
carried out and in phase 2 the material selection and analysis with an upscaled version is conducted. Through the 
research findings in phase 1, we compared both the diamond and honeycomb spokes with the new designs in 
terms of total deformation, maximum shear stress, equivalent (von-mises) stress and maximum principal elastic 
strain and find the design which suits the objectives. Then use the phase 2 analysis to find the most appropriate.
