Abstract:A new (very slow) entrant in the bio‐orthogonal reaction race 1,2,4,5‐Tetrazines react rapidly with a wide range of strained dienophiles; however, the corresponding reactions of 1,2,4‐triazines have not all been evaluated. In their Full Paper on , M. E. Webb et al. report the synthesis of 1,2,4‐triazinylalanine and show that while it does react with bicyclononynes (but not norbonenes), the reaction rate is orders of magnitude slower than that for the corresponding tetrazines.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
