Abstract:Presence of recalcitrant dissolved organic matter (DOM) could have a significant effect on the adsorption mechanism and capacity of the sludge for many trace organic carbons (TrOCs), especially for the hydrophobic and/or positively charged compounds. In this study, adsorption of three TrOCs on the sludge and humic acid was investigated. The results revealed that neutral hydrophilic compounds had an insignificant interaction with both sludge and humic acid.Positively charged compounds like Fluoranthene, had mor… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
