Abstract: Cultivated spinach (Spinacia oleracea) is a dioecious species (with male and female flowers on separate individuals). We report high-quality genome assemblies for its two closest wild relatives,S. turkestanicaandS. tetrandra, which are also dioecious, to study the genetics of spinach domestication.
