Insights into the Functional Role of ADTRP (Androgen-Dependent TFPI-Regulating Protein) in Health and Disease

Abstract: The novel protein ADTRP, identified and described by us in 2011, is androgen-inducible and regulates the expression and activity of Tissue Factor Pathway Inhibitor, the major inhibitor of the Tissue Factor-dependent pathway of coagulation on endothelial cells. Single-nucleotide polymorphisms in ADTRP associate with coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction, and deep vein thrombosis/venous thromboembolism. Some athero-protective effects of androgen could exert through up-regulation of ADTRP expression. … Show more

“…We developed a prognostic model based on 12 glycolysis- and lactate-related genes (ADTRP, ALDOB, APOBEC1, ASCL2, CEACAM7, CLCA1, CTXN1, FLNA, NAT2, OLFM4, PTPRU, and SNCG), and the combination of these genes generated an accurate prediction of the clinical outcome. By hydrolyzing fatty acid esters of hydroxy-fatty acids, ADTRP can prevent diabetes and inflammation and control metabolic diseases ( Lupu et al, 2021 ). Colorectal cancer (CRC) cells may undergo metabolic reprogramming during liver colonization when the liver environment is conducive to aldolase B upregulation.…”

“…ADTRP mRNA and protein expression have been detected in human endothelial cells [26,42,43]. To determine ADTRP expression in our iPSC-endothelial cells, we demonstrated that ADTRP was detected in both CAD EC and normal EC, as well as in the positive control HCAEC, but not in the iPSCs (Fig.…”

“…ADTRP is involved in maintaining cell and tissue homeostasis in other tissue types (such as adipose tissue and liver) [57] and also contains putative genetic variants in islets ( Table S6 ). The analyses of islets genes associated with BMI ( Table S5 ) identified genes involved in obesity, metabolism and inflammation such as GUCY2C, ZNF536, MYBPC1, DOK2, BCL11B and AMY2A that negatively correlated; and GALNTL6, CASQ2 and CLDN18 , which positively correlated with BMI.…”
