Integrated Analysis of DNA Methylation and mRNA Expression Profiles Data to Identify Key Genes in Lung Adenocarcinoma

Abstract: Introduction. Lung adenocarcinoma (LAC) is the most frequent type of lung cancer and has a high metastatic rate at an early stage. This study is aimed at identifying LAC-associated genes. Materials and Methods. GSE62950 downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus included a DNA methylation dataset and an mRNA expression profiles dataset, both of which included 28 LAC tissue samples and 28 adjacent normal tissue samples. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were screened by Limma package in R, and their functi… Show more

“…Lung adenocarcinoma is characterized by the formation of a gland or a duct and a massive bronchial mucosa. It generally originates in the peripheral lung tissue [ 5 ]. The major risk factors for lung adenocarcinoma are smoking or passive smoking (passive smokers are at a higher risk comparatively), exposure to cigarette smoke, asbestos, chromium, or arsenic compounds [ 6 ].…”

“…It is reported that JAM2 is down-regulated in NSCLC 68 and LUAD. 69 75 and their upregulation is associated with poor prognosis and aggressiveness of lung, breast, ovarian, renal and other cancers. 76 Actually, they play essential roles in the regulation of metabolism, cell-cell adhesion and cell proliferation and migration, 77 TA B L E 4 (Continued) insights into the functional roles of LAProLncRs in LUAD tumourigenesis.…”
