Integrated Geophysical and Hydrogeochemical Characterization and Assessment of Groundwater Studies in Adum West Area of Benue State,Nigeria

Abstract: Integration of geophysical and hydrogeochemical methods has been scientifically proven to be useful in vulnerability study and groundwater characterization. Subsurface geoelectric parameters such as resistivity and thickness obtained from geophysical method (Vertical Electrical Sounding VES) was used to determine aquifers vulnerability, longitudinal resistance (ρL) and transverse unit resistance (Rt). Thirty four water samples were collected from groundwater sources for physicochemical analysis.Estimated resul… Show more

“…The geoelectric approach is one of the most often utilized techniques for assessing groundwater potential due to its affordability and ease. The depth and hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer can be determined using this method together with other hydrologic techniques as borehole logging and pumping text (Eyankware et al, 2021). Groundwater is the main supply of water for domestic and other uses, according to previous researchers who have worked in Delta State.…”

“…Understanding the origins, concentrations, and trends of heavy metals in surface and groundwater can help to create more sustainable worldwide environmental management strategies (Hui et al, 2014). Groundwater contamination has the property of being challenging to detect and eradicate (Eyankware et al, 2020;Eyankware et al, 2021c;Akakuru et al 2021a&b). In any case, the impact of human activities has brought groundwater pollution to a catastrophic level due to the rapid spread of urbanization, industrialization, and rural modernisation.…”
