Integrated simulation system of CO2 gas injection application for enhanced oil recovery in the oil field

Abstract: CO2 gas injection is one of the recommended enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods by injecting CO2 through reservoir pores after the residual saturation is reached, since CO2 dissolves easily in oil phase as confirmed by many other researchers in pertaining field studies. An integrated system is urgently required for assessing CO2-EOR study, covering multi-disciplinary aspects as follows: geology, geophysics, reservoir, production, process and economic. Hence, those systems must be reliable in suggesting final d… Show more

“…Dynamics of dissolution or diffusion of gas released as a result of the reaction also differed depending on the use of formation water or process water in the prepared solution. These results are in good agreement with the results of the authors Kristanto et al (2020), Rodosta et al (2017). Under the same thermodynamic conditions, rapid CO 2 release significantly changes the distribution of water and oil saturation in the displacement zone, as well as the volume flow rate in the boundary zone.…”

“…Disulfides, mercaptans, thiophenes (TH), and their derivatives, such as pentathiophene (BT) and dibenzothiophene (DBT), are typical organic sulfur compounds (OSCs) found in fuels. The US Environmental Protection Agency and the European Union both recently announced stringent restrictions that set the maximum permitted sulfur concentration at 10 and 15 ppm, respectively 6–13 . Adsorptive desulfurization (ADS) is one of the alternatives to hydrodesulfurization (HDS) that has a high cost of production because it requires harsh working conditions.…”

[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13] Adsorptive desulfurization (ADS) is one of the alternatives to hydrodesulfurization (HDS) that has a high cost of production because it requires harsh working conditions. Due to its low energy and material requirements, the ADS is currently regarded as a potential desulfurization process.…”

“…In addition, polymer-stabilized emulsions formed during the displacement, resulted in severe challenges in oilfield surface production (Wang et al., 2019). Oil displacement with CO 2 injection is characterized by low pressure and strong suction capacity in low-permeability reservoir, which is easily to keep balance between injectors and producers with no reservoir damage (Dedy et al., 2020). It can reduce negative effect of capillary force and enhance oil displacement efficiency using miscible or semi miscible CO 2 flooding (Choubineh et al., 2016; Stephenson et al., 1993; Zhao and Liao, 2012).…”
