Integrated water management using feasible goals method and interactive decision maps: the case of Odivelas irrigation

Abstract: In Mediterranean areas water scarcity is a real problem and stakeholders have conflicting visions and interests. This paper aims to determine feasible and efficient combinations of stakeholder goals using an integrated water management approach. A framework based on the Feasible Goals Method/Interactive Decision Maps (FGM/IDM) technique to approximate all Pareto optimal solutions of a linear multi-criteria model was developed. The model was applied to the Odivelas irrigated area in southern Portugal and a part… Show more

“…In this approach, the decision-maker can study the whole Pareto frontier through its interactive visualization and formulate a preferable feasible reference point (goal) in the criteria space. The FGM/IDM technique has been successfully used to solve multi-objective problems with more than three criteria (Borges et al, 2014;Fragoso et al, 2015;Garcia-Gonzalo et al, 2015;Lotov et al, 2005;Marques et al, 2017;Marques et al, 2020;Miettinen et al, 2003).…”
