Abstract:BACKGROUND: Anodic oxidation, a promising approach for the removal of refractory organic pollutants in wastewater through advanced oxidation, still faces the challenge of high energy consumption. This study coupled an O 2 -reducing biocathode, a cathode thermodynamically more favorable than conventional abiotic ones, with an MnO x /Ti electrocatalytic porous anode, to produce a novel biocathode-electrocatalytic reactor (BECR).
RESULTS:After inoculation, the BECR was successfully started up to generate current … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
